Imam Reza Shrine’s Flag Replaced with Black One

A black flag was raised on the dome of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, northeast Iran.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A black flag was raised on the dome of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, northeast Iran.

The flag of the holy mausoleum was replaced by a black one as a sign of mourning ahead of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Kadhim (AS), which falls on Thursday, January 15, and following the martyrdom of citizens and security forces during recent riots in the country.

The Iranian government has declared three days of national mourning after deaths in the riots.

Violent rioters vandalized public and private properties in a number of cities across Iran on Thursday and Friday, killing some ordinary people and security forces and inflicting injuries on others.

They vandalized public properties, blocked streets, attacked the administrative buildings and police stations, and killed and injured a number of security and law enforcement forces.

They also set fire on several mosques and desecrated copies of the Holy Quran.
